Special Projects
As well as the many and various volunteering opportunities through Vale Volunteers, there are two special projects organised by us. The first is our Gardening Project, and when Spring is looming what better way to spend you spare time than out in the fresh crisp air, making a valuable contribution to the Aylesbury Vale community. However, if the big outdoors is not for you, maybe our Decorating Project is just what you’re looking for!

Gardening Project
Calling all gardening enthusiasts! We need you to help with a very valued service in Aylesbury Vale. The Vale Volunteers Gardening Project offers basic gardening help to older and disabled people in your community. We are looking for people willing to help with basic gardening tasks like:
· Cutting back shrubs
· Mowing the lawn
· Planting bulbs, annuals and perennials,
· Weeding,
· Forking beds and borders
As a volunteer, you will be supported by our Project Co-ordinator who can offer training and advice on basic gardening, health and safety issues, and working with older people. All volunteer expenses related to the Gardening Project (including travel) will be covered by Vale Volunteers. You will also be covered under our insurance policy.
Did you know?
You can burn between 200 and 400 calories by digging for 30 minutes, and mowing the lawn is another great way to use up extra calories!
Getting involved with a community gardening project is a great way to meet new people and learn a new skill.
Spending time around plants can reduce tension and stress.
So get your gardening gloves on and get ready to get fit and have fun!!!

Decorating Project
Fancy adding a splash of colour to someone’s home? Vale Volunteers offers a basic decorating service to older and disabled people in Aylesbury Vale. If you have a penchant for painting then get in touch, we may have just the volunteering opportunity for you!
Our volunteers help with basic painting walls (no wallpaper or woodwork!). All decorating jobs are assessed by our Project Co-ordinator before volunteers become involved. Materials are provided by the client and Vale Volunteers.
This service is offered free of charge to older and disabled people living on low incomes.
A fresh coat of paint can make a real difference to someone who can no longer manage their own decorating.
